Below are sketches for "Landfill" and "Medicine", both inspired by songs by Daughter. These are two of many sketches for upcoming paintings. The goal here is to record the general design idea, and put them to canvas later.
I highly recommend the band "Daughter". It was introduced to me through a friend.
"Landfill"
Made in my Script-Graffiti style.
The black background accentuates the darkness and rich meaning of the song. White flows upward from the black, representing song rising from the quiet receptive black backdrop. The contrast between black and white speaks of the elements in the song. The blue cyan border is the mark of sublety and softness in which all elements - color, shape and form - are blended together.
As for the lines and shapes, there is a pulse monitor line or soundwave main structure, representative of the insane talent and harmonious reverberence of the main vocalist. You must listen to the song to understand. From the main structure branch off circles and lines. The lines are echoes, where the circles are resonances of unique but interrelated ideas branching from the main soundwave/pulse monitor.
"Medicine"
Made in my Mandala style, paired with Script-Graffiti.

Interwoven circles separating strong pretty colors are the barriers set up between beautiful colored parts of the mind by modern day medicine. Medicine can also be any form of escapism, or means of divesting one's self from reality, partitioning the mind, willfully or even to survive, by dealing with only one thing at once, as opposed to holistically. The RX pill is at the center. It is the source. It is not just a pill. It is any poison we have chosen. Alcohol, games, drugs, even the other side, cold logic without emotion, ambition without focus, and so on. Consider and try to change your life for the better.
I hope you enjoyed.
